Rehabilitation and Decommissioning - Every mining
undertaking erratically encompasses land transformations such as from a hill to
a huge hole in the ground, greenish woodland to barren region, and orchard moor-lands
to processed facilities. Consequently, these alterations create negative impacts
on existing physical and biological environment while it is imperative to observe
the proper mechanisms for minimizing and abolishing these likely impacts during
and after mining operations.Mines have been abandoned in a highly disturbed condition,
with limited or no rehabilitation treatment.
Therefore, MICCL has strongly committed to minimize environmental impacts on and
off site in conjunction with effective rehabilitation during the operational mining
phase. Rehabilitation plan has a crucial role of the MICCL's mine planning all the
way through of the mine life. MICCL has been undertaking intensive rehabilitation
programme since commencement of mining operation, and those plans have been revised
yearly for a part of recent and potential extended project as well.
